圖書描述

講述瑞恰慈(I. A. Richards)在1929年到1979年間，五次到中國的曆程 （Rodney Koenecke 的材料基本詳盡，但是忘記瞭瑞恰慈夫婦第一次到中國是1927年在亞洲度蜜月的時候）。

從30年代開始，瑞恰慈在中國的活動就以“基本英語”Basic English (British American Scientific International and Commercial English)為中心。Koenecke認為，往常學術論述過分倚重瑞恰慈的文學批評活動，而未能充分重視瑞恰慈在中美英三國的基本英語活動。
