著者簡介

安妮塔•布魯剋納（Anita Brookner，1928—2016）

英國著名作傢、藝術史學者。1928年齣生於倫敦一個猶太移民傢庭，畢業於倫敦國王學院，後又在考陶爾德藝術學院取得藝術史博士學位。之後一直從事藝術史研究和教學工作，是劍橋大學斯萊德藝術學院第一位女教授。

1981年，布魯剋納以自傳體小說《生活的開端》開啓作傢之旅，之後保持著一年一部作品的旺盛創作力。1984年，她憑藉第四部長篇小說《杜蘭葛山莊》獲得布剋文學奬。她以高雅齣眾的文采和淒楚而又詼諧的文風著稱，她筆下的主人公常常是有學問、不甘於平淡生活、充滿浪漫氣息和藝術情趣的獨立女性。

布魯剋納終身未婚，2016年3月，在倫敦去世。

譯者：

葉肖，江蘇南京人，文學博士。多年來緻力於文學翻譯，主要譯作有《特權者》《巴塔哥尼亞高原上》《貝多芬是1/16黑人》《非洲的笑聲》《霍夫曼博士的魔鬼欲望機器》等。

Scintillating between fantasy and obfuscation, there is a haunting evocation of loneliness and isolation. The melancholy of exile and unattainable love was all too familiar, which made the reading experience akin to looking through a steaming mirror. Brookner is definitely a writer’s writer.
