作者简介

马尔科姆·朗盖尔（Malcolm Longair）教授1941年出生于苏格兰，1967年在剑桥大学卡文迪许（Cavendish）实验室获博士学位。1968—1969年，他作为英国皇家学会的交换访问学者在莫斯科列别捷夫（Lebedev）研究所工作。其后他又六次作为交换学者访问前苏联空间研究所，并在美国多个研究所和天文台担任访问教授。从1980年到1990年，他同时担任苏格兰皇家学会天文学家、爱丁堡（Edinburgh）大学钦定天文学讲座教授和爱丁堡皇家天文台台长。他在1991—1997年期间任卡文迪许实验室副主任，专门负责物理教学工作，并在1997年以后成为卡文迪许实验室主任。朗盖尔教授获得过多项奖项，其中包括在1986年2月获得首届大不列颠学习与丰富生活传播奖。1990年12月，他在电视上作了题为“我们宇宙的起源”的系列讲座，该讲座是皇家科学研究所在圣诞节期间专为青少年开设的。他在2000年千禧年授勋中荣膺高级英帝国勋位爵士封号。朗盖尔教授的主要研究领域为高能天体物理与天体物理宇宙学。他撰写了多部学术著作，并发表了超过250篇研究论文。
