著者简介

萨拉·桑顿（Sarah Thornton），作家，社会学家。于加拿大蒙特利尔的康哥迪亚大学取得艺术史专业的硕士学位，于格拉斯哥的斯特赖斯克莱德大学缺的社会学博士学位。她是苏赛克斯大学的全职讲师，后在伦敦大学金史密斯学院做访问学者。她早期的作品主要围绕亚文化、媒介和文化传承，近作则聚焦于艺术世界和艺术市场。

感觉都是第一手材料，可是缺乏系统的分析，不过这应该也是符合作者写这本书的目的的。不是为了阐述什么理论而是记录当下艺术世界的种种。相比之下还是最喜欢第一章，也许是书里的世界实在离自己太远，除了威尼斯双年展，那些人名和机构基本上都闻所未闻，所以也就是看个热闹。后记里作者也提到了为了努力做到客观，她大量引用了相关人士自己的话，不过这样一来整本书就觉得很散。
