At thirty-two, Kay Cunningham has
all but given up on life. Still reeling
from the tragic loss of her young son
a year earlier, she has built a wall of
grief and guilt between herself and
the rest of the world, including her
very sensitive and concerned hus-
band. So it is with great reluctance
that she agrees to join him on the
Greek island of Lesbos, home of
Damian, an orphan Michael Cun-
ningham is determined to adopt.
The trip to Greece should have
been uneventful. But from the time
Kay reaches Athens, nothing goes
according to plan. Though Kay
won t give in to fear, there are sig-
nals that something is amiss. Once
she s on Lesbos, however, Damian,
his family and friends, and the is-
land itself work their subtle magic
and she finds herself thinking less
and less about her loss and her trou-
bled marriage.
