The people on the bird watchers safari in
Kenya were guarded from dangers with-
out, but no one could save them from the
unknown killer in their group. The first vic-
tim was glowery Phineas Cartwright, head
of the Cartwright Company, hated for his
brutality by his son Richard and Richard s
wife, as well as by several executives and
employees of the firm who were on the trip.
Colonel Dagger took charge when the body
was discovered, saving a native porter
from being immediately railroaded for the
murder, but he found no clue to the cun-
ning killer.
James Addison, a New York newspa-
perman and Dagger s roommate, recog-
nized the colonel as a once-famous
detective. More important to Addison,
Dagger was the father of the delicious Rox-
anne. While the members of the safari con-
tinued on their journey, going from one
place to another, fear rode along with
them. Even Captain Lamumba, head of the
police in that area, could not stop the
murders until, in a final terrible confronta-
tion, the shocking truth is revealed.
Sharply drawn pictures of the African
scene and the wild life make a fascinating
setting for this tale of bizarre crimes.
