哈金（Ha Jin）
本名金雪飛，1956年生於遼寜省，曾在中國人民解放軍中服役五年。1982年畢業於黑龍江大學英語係，在校主攻英美文學，1984年獲山東大學英美文學碩士學位。1985年赴美留學，並於1992年獲布蘭迪斯大學（Brandeis University）博士學位。現任教於美國波士頓大學（Boston University）。
1996年，獲“弗蘭納裏·奧康納小說奬”（《小鎮奇人異事》）
1997年，獲“海明威基金會/筆會奬”（《好兵》）
1999年，獲“美國國傢圖書奬”（《等待》）
2000年，獲“筆會/福剋納奬”（《等待》）
2002年，獲湯森德小說奬（《新郎》）

起初讀著挺順的，覺得可以推薦給學生，學習如何用簡練的英文生動地錶達周遭的生活。讀到手機顯示72%就感到膩味瞭，不敢說不是好英文，但覺得不夠味。情節也顯單薄。相比之下，哈金的短篇更有意思。

评分Simple as the wording and structure of Waiting seems, the masterpiece, written with such frankness and sincerity, has deeply touched the readers through its resurrection of the realism rarely found today. There's no such thing as bad against good, or saints against sinners for Jin, who creates in his book a world full of a sense of tender loss.
评分很好奇一個中國人寫的描寫純中國舊事的英文小說怎麼能拿1999年美國國傢讀書大奬（小說類）？讀瞭後似乎明白瞭，似乎還是不明白，隻是最後越來越走進男主角。倒是很想拿中文版給父母讀，他們一定很有共鳴。人生就這麼不打緊地過瞭18年，以為很漫長，以為很糾結，以為很難熬下去，其實不用太咬牙切齒就都這麼過瞭。老外有些短書評很有意思，說它是“喜劇”，明明就是鼕日裏的涼開水，喝完瞭連凍的感覺都沒有。
