著者簡介

約瑟夫·羅特（1894—1939），二十世紀上半葉最重要的德語作傢之一，齣生於奧匈帝國東部邊境的加利西亞小鎮（今波蘭東部）。1916年至1918年在奧匈帝國軍隊服役，參加瞭第一次世界大戰，戰後在維也納和柏林當新聞記者。平生著有十三部長篇小說和大量的短篇小說以及散文作品，主要作品有：《拉德茨基進行麯》《皇帝的陵寢》《約伯：一個猶太人的命運》等。
