AUTHOR'S NOTE
In presenting Flying Colours, I have
attempted to portray the vast and varied
range of colours to be seen on the world's
aircraft. The majority of the photographs
are of passenger-carrying aircraft which
arrive and depart daily at destinations
around the globe, and were taken by me
using Kodachrome 25 film and selected
from my ever-increasing collection of over
14,000 transparencies.
An airline's corporate image is very
important and vast sums of money are
paid to design studios and agencies by
carriers anxious to keep in step with
modern trends. Styles change very fast
and it is obviously necessary to choose a
livery that will not date too quickly.
A book of this nature cannot be produced
without the help of the authorities, and
due acknowledgement must be made to all
who made the production of Flying
Colours possible. I am extremely grateful

into the future.
Your interest in Flying Colours is
appreciated and I trust you will obtain as
much pleasure from looking through the
pages as I had whilst photographing
around the world.
