勒·柯布西耶在这本书里竭尽所能地呼吁大家从旧式的古典风格或其他传统风格的桎梏中挣脱出来，睁开眼睛看看正在被急切需要的新的简洁风格，而这一点还不为人所察觉，尤其是建筑师们的不觉醒令他焦虑。他赞美新时代里的新风格，如轮船和飞机那样机械美学式的住宅风格。他的意思...  

目前能买到的两个中文译本对比，均为英译中。随意翻的一页，可能不具代表性，但是应该能说明一些问题。 还有个别的建筑的翻译问题，比如希腊圣母堂译为高斯梅丹·圣玛丽亚教堂(Basilica di Santa Maria in Cosmedin) 五星好评的各位真的能看懂陈志华版吗?(
