From Library Journal The Lees (Field Guide to Retirement, LJ 4/1/91) provide three-to five-page descriptions of 50 communities that are amenable to retirees and briefly profile 15 others now in development. The descriptions include 1993 housing costs and association fees, community design and history, recreational facilities and health services, and 1991 climate data. Chatty and often trite, the book relies heavily upon the testimonials of community residents and the Lees' own subjective impressions. Features include photos of each community and alphabetical, state, and classified indexes (not seen). Because it contains a range of locations, types, and prices, this survey should prove popular in public libraries. Reference departments desiring a comprehensive directory should consider Directory of Retirement Facilities (HCIA, 1994).Robert Kruthoffer, Lane P.L., Hamilton, OhioCopyright 1994 Reed Business Information, Inc.
