Alex Michaelides was born in Cyprus to a Greek-Cypriot father and English mother. He has a MA in English Literature from Cambridge University and a MFA in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. The Silent Patient is his first novel.

作者特意在字里行间留下一些有用没用的线索特意诱导读者考虑其他嫌疑人（我甚至有怀疑过过教授的角色是不是有猫腻）。读到真相大白的时候我反而更加迷糊。Alicia从一开始就知道那是theo，通过作画，和elif打架（elif说theo喜欢她但这为什么会惹怒alicia？），给日记本，开口对话，一步一步地引导theo去调查自己的身世心理状态，这一连窜动作我反而搞不懂了：她想引导的结果是什么？她想试探theo？她想让theo攻击她然后落网？还是是真的想借theo之手永远沉默自己？

古希腊传说的现代演绎，年少时种下的因导致成年后的果，爱与背叛，以及第一次在欧美推理遇见的叙述性诡计。虽然明白真相的时候有些惊喜，回过头看故事其实很简单，也有不少多余的情节，关键是某个人做某些事的动机实在有点牵强。编剧出身的作者相当擅长营造气氛和画面感，有声书的演绎很精彩，弥补了节奏的不足。

这是一本page-turner的书。篇幅不短，但我读完只用了一天多。Silent Patient讲了一个悬疑的故事。Alicia被控谋杀丈夫，但案发之后不再开口说话，最后被判神经不正常在精神病院疗养。Thou是一个初出茅庐的医生，一开始就对Alicia的案子有兴趣，随后巧合到了她在的医院，成为了她...

国庆期间，一天半把这本书看完了，做晚看到夜里2点。作者很聪明，最开始给你铺了一个很大的谜团，Gabriel被枪杀了，Alicia从此不开口了，没人知道那晚发生了什么。作为读者的我就一步一步跟随着作者去找寻答案。既然我已经开始了，我就需要知道答案。这大概就是人类的好奇心吧...
