What is war like through the eyes of a child soldier? How does one become a killer? How does one stop? Child soldiers have been profiled by journalists, and novelists have struggled to imagine their lives. But until now, there has not been a first-person account from someone who came through this hell and survived.

In A Long Way Gone , Beah, now twenty-five years old, tells a riveting story: how at the age of twelve, he fled attacking rebels and wandered a land rendered unrecognizable by violence. 作者简介

伊斯梅尔·比亚，1980年出生于塞拉利昂。1998年赴美国完成在联合国国际学校的高中课程。2004年获得欧柏林大学政治科学学士学位。现在的他是联合国的人权观察员，并多次在联合国大会上发言。现居纽约。
