《機械復製時代的藝術作品》確實是非常經典的藝術評論瞭，最重要的概念可能就是aura，藝術最早包含膜拜價值，當藝術被復製時，aura卻不可被復製。這解釋瞭當觀眾看演員本人在現場錶演時，他具有那樣的靈韻，而當演員對著可復製的機器錶演時，那個隻存在於即時即地的靈韻消失瞭。於是膜拜價值被削弱，觀眾站到機器的背後采取瞭檢測與鑒賞的態度。另外，書裏麵還收錄瞭兩篇評論，關於卡夫卡和普魯斯特的，也非常值得一看。
