珍·哈珀的第三本書，非福剋係列。依然沒齣道作好看，但也沒第二本那麼糊。這本中間遊離齣主綫的劇情有點太多瞭。文字依舊流暢，氛圍依舊優秀，交錯敘事效果隱約比首作還要棒。誒，這本主角還沒福剋有意思，其實人物塑造有點糊瞭，我搞不懂他們。警官也太劃水瞭。

Harper很擅長用過去和環境講故事。然而不如前麵的書更有意思，書中一些重復的描寫，比如“看不懂的錶情”讓人有點齣戲。

看完《the dry》，跳過第二部（中文版已讀），跑來看最新的這本。一開始以為會有前兩部的男主Aaron齣場，看瞭好久纔認定沒他齣場機會。不過還是有cross over，這部書的主角和《the dry》Aaron的初戀Ellie是親戚關係，順帶交待瞭一下Mal Deacon的下場。感到作者莫名設定瞭Deacon傢的人總是和命案牽扯不清。荒涼的澳大利亞內陸，看似遼闊，實際上也是一個狹小的高壓鍋，給這起案件以及相關問題非常閤理的理由。在寫法上，過去與現在的閃迴交叉比第一部自然順暢好多。
