By the age of 32, Ronit has left London and transformed her life. She has become a cigarette-smoking, wise-cracking, New York career woman, who is in love with a married man.But when Ronit's father dies she is called back into the very different world of her childhood, a world she thought she had left far behind. 以前覺得作者是Ronit，從正統猶太社區離開去紐約，寫小說時還是一個虔誠猶太人，寫完後卻不是瞭。後來看她采訪裏談到她以前愛上一個不愛她的人，然後她於我成瞭Ronit、Esti、Dovid三個人，也許是這樣的經曆纔把他/她們氣憤、暗戀、軟弱的狀態描寫得那麼刻苦銘心吧。電影的改編很不同，但看完電影我覺得我原諒這本書瞭。
评分其實故事還是不錯的，就是寫的不行，語言和敘事也不怎麼成熟。倒是很長知識哈哈。Ronit內心也是迷醉..一直很迷茫
评分看完真的覺得Esti真是太好瞭，Ronit好渣。
评分作為留下來的那個 Esti卻似乎是更有勇氣的 忽然想起瞭 “在自由意誌之下選擇瞭束縛是不是自由”的命題。從愛情上說 Esti不動聲色地深愛瞭數十年 她說隻需一眼 就能從Ronit臉上就能看到整個世界。但可惜書的重點終究還不是愛情吧。
评分所以，在自由意識下選擇的束縛是不是自由。 喜歡Esti。 心理描寫很心動。
