Mathematical Physics is an introduction to such basic mathematical structures as groups, vector spaces, topological spaces, measure spaces, and Hilbert space. Geroch uses category theory to emphasize both the interrelationships among different structures and the unity of mathematics. Perhaps the most valuable feature of the book is the illuminating intuitive discussion of the "whys" of proofs and of axioms and definitions. 想了解范畴不如直接读范畴论(或者天天上nlab被洗脑),这书东西确实也不是理论物理学生一般需要的数学物理。现在感觉与其啃这些真不如直接读数学书,可能还快点,不会被语焉不详卡住。
评分早就听梁灿彬老先生说过geroch的数学水平了得,果然逼格高!从范畴论入手讲起,范畴论也是深刻理解代数拓扑的必经之路。
