读再多科学、哲学的“死书”，都比不上喝一次死藤水带来的幻象让人灵魂颤抖，我想作者也是十分有勇气抛弃多年的“科学训练”带来的滤镜来写这本书：他认为全世界创世神话都分享的母题，以缠绕的双链蛇代表生命之本质（比如延续至今的医院、救护车上的赫耳墨斯之杖caduceus，以及我能想到中国的蛇身伏羲女娲），是萨满们在致幻物质下影响看到的DNA。之前读Campbell的神话比较学，我对蛇的跨民族普世崇拜（并且总是与生命树、智慧联系在一起）也感到很baffling. “灵长类对蛇在进化过程中刻入DNA的恐惧”这个理论也不太说得过去，因为对蜘蛛的恐惧并没有催生出蜘蛛崇拜。总之这本书的内容是形而上学的范畴，也无法实证，但有助于开阔眼界，可试着放松一下对纯理性的、materialist的世界观的执著。
