The work of Piet Mondrian is unmistakable: an art characterised by its rhythm, clarity and bold colours. Often considered wholly non-representational, paintings such as Broadway Boogie-Woogie were directly inspired by his experience of life, in this case the dynamism and grid-like street plan of New York City.
