浦洛基Serhii Plokhy

烏剋蘭人，小學至大學初期在烏剋蘭接受教育。蘇聯解體後於1996年前往加拿大Alberta大學的烏剋蘭研究中心研究，2007年轉入哈佛大學歷史學係，2013年起任哈佛大學烏剋蘭研究中心的主任至今。因2014年3月剋裏米亞事件，決定撰寫本書。

其研究領域涵蓋烏剋蘭、東歐和冷戰，著作被翻譯為烏剋蘭文、俄文、白俄羅斯文、簡體中文、愛沙尼亞文、波蘭文、葡萄牙文、羅馬尼亞文、西班牙文等多種文字，作品屢次獲獎，其中2014年在紐約齣版的《最後的帝國：蘇聯的末日》一書獲得：「普希金之傢俄羅斯圖書獎」、「萊昂內爾‧格爾伯圖書獎」和「安東諾維奇獎」。
