On an unseasonably warm autumn day, an American teacher walks down a staircase beneath Sofia's National Palace of Culture, looking for sex. Among the stalls of a public bathroom he encounters Mitko, a charismatic young hustler. He returns to Mitko again and again over the next few months, and their trysts grow increasingly intimate and unnerving as the enigma of this young man becomes inseparable from that of his homeland, Bulgaria, a country with a difficult past and an uncertain future.
Garth Greenwell's What Belongs to You is a stunning debut about an American expat struggling with his own complicated inheritance while navigating a foreign culture. 评分Soaked in melancholy. 怎麼說呢，看得心情是復雜的，這種很難抽離的反復感看得讓人心碎的同時又無比的焦心。作為debut novel，可能確實值得肯定。但文體很流俗，讀起來一點都不流暢而且還讓人覺得過分矯情。不舒服是第一感覺，好在篇幅不長。不過第二部分不分段，我當時都想棄讀瞭！但同樣間接錶達瞭對那段記憶作者想要錶達的復雜情緒吧。最後兜兜轉轉，更多是一種對於Bulgaria衰敗感的批判，Mitko這樣的人物也隻能是小小社會的一個縮影瞭吧。
评分文筆是有的，第二章隻一段也是服氣，隻是覺得好玩，確實一口氣讀完，擴張interiority做的還不錯，人物性格太綫性，總之讀著玩玩還是不錯的
评分看得齣來最後作者想要錶達的，破敗的國傢，大傢隻想往外跑找工作，留下來的卻變成Mitko這樣。反而像社會小說瞭。然而本身本書讀感極其差，作者不分段，而且雖然篇幅短，其實隻寫瞭大約十個場景，中間特彆是去醫院廢話實在太多瞭，文字也不能說好，有時候過於拗口裝逼，讓人感覺作者主修English literature。另外，其實本書隻是reformed cliché罷瞭，比如被齣櫃遭拋棄+暗戀指南。另外Mitsko塑造的也不好，像一個符號而不是一個人物，描繪的非常平麵。
评分讀到128頁放棄。這作者會寫的。但可能我是圈中人，經曆過聽說過太多有所似的故事，不覺新鮮。Mitko這角色使我想起法國電影Les témoins那青年。
