Phil Sandusky is regarded as one of America's most respected plein air (open-air) artists, known especially for his evocative cityscapes. In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Sandusky returned to his hometown of New Orleans and began recording what he saw.Featuring 76 full-colour reproductions - 30 that show the life and soul of the city a year before Katrina; 30 in the aftermath of the storm; and 16 painted one year on from Katrina, showing the city's painstaking recovery - "Painting Katrina" offers a unique vision of the beauty and fragility of New Orleans, and the awesome power of nature.
