Area X has been cut off from the rest of the continent for decades. Nature has reclaimed the last vestiges of human civilization. The first expedition returned with reports of a pristine, Edenic landscape; the second expedition ended in mass suicide, the third expedition in a hail of gunfire as its members turned on one another. The members of the eleventh expedition returned as shadows of their former selves, and within weeks, all had died of cancer. In Annihilation, the first volume of Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy, we join the twelfth expedition.
The group is made up of four women: an anthropologist; a surveyor; a psychologist, the de facto leader; and our narrator, a biologist. Their mission is to map the terrain, record all observations of their surroundings and of one anotioner, and, above all, avoid being contaminated by Area X itself.
They arrive expecting the unexpected, and Area X delivers—they discover a massive topographic anomaly and life forms that surpass understanding—but it’s the surprises that came across the border with them and the secrets the expedition members are keeping from one another that change everything.

评分和電影幾乎是兩碼事…看完讓人很質疑作者講故事的能力，不過對生態學有瞭一點興趣。

评分壓迫感非常強的一本書。和Crawler正麵交鋒的那一段真的簡直⋯⋯Make your heart tremble.
评分讀得很慢，100多頁花瞭3天纔讀完，因為掙紮著想把每句話每個詞都看得一清二楚，而且一些細節詞匯好晦澀（我語言能力還急需提高）。非常creepy極其weird，和電影一般像是一個bad acid trip，吃瞭壞掉的蘑菇，做瞭惡心而不明所以的夢魘，卻與電影幾乎是全然不同的故事瞭。全書都是大坑，到底Event是什麼，superiors到底知道一些什麼，誰把大傢的日記放到燈塔裏的，塔是誰建的。真的都是外星生物入侵嗎？
