Area X has been cut off from the rest of the continent for decades. Nature has reclaimed the last vestiges of human civilization. The first expedition returned with reports of a pristine, Edenic landscape; the second expedition ended in mass suicide, the third expedition in a hail of gunfire as its members turned on one another. The members of the eleventh expedition returned as shadows of their former selves, and within weeks, all had died of cancer. In Annihilation, the first volume of Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy, we join the twelfth expedition.
The group is made up of four women: an anthropologist; a surveyor; a psychologist, the de facto leader; and our narrator, a biologist. Their mission is to map the terrain, record all observations of their surroundings and of one anotioner, and, above all, avoid being contaminated by Area X itself.
They arrive expecting the unexpected, and Area X delivers—they discover a massive topographic anomaly and life forms that surpass understanding—but it’s the surprises that came across the border with them and the secrets the expedition members are keeping from one another that change everything.

评分可能是中西方文化差异也可能是我水平有限，看完以后实在没觉得精彩在哪里，留下了一堆谜团，文中以生物学家为视角来写，大段大段的心理描写和个人独白，看的颇为乏味，自我感觉主剧情只占本书的20%，第一部很短，几小时就能看完，反正看完云里雾里，感觉自己看了小说的前言介绍...

和电影几乎是两码事…看完让人很质疑作者讲故事的能力，不过对生态学有了一点兴趣。
评分引人入胜
评分科幻设定上很明显属于迷失那一类的挖巨坑而填不上，主题上也很难达到真正厉害文学的高度，不过那种字里行间那种biological/ecological horror的催眠迷幻感与subtly creeping uneasiness还是很厉害的，尤其是descent into the Tower和遭遇大boss一段，换成电影的话大概就是2001太空漫游里穿越时空那一段的观感。
评分挺好看的偶尔浪漫一下都能把我惊讶到。consolation of authority这句蛮酷的，可以接着看一下本了。"have you been waiting for me all this time? Have I arrived yet” this is so sad.
评分壓迫感非常強的一本書。和Crawler正面交鋒的那一段真的簡直⋯⋯Make your heart tremble.
