In July 1999, Dale Chihuly's most dramatic undertaking--a yearlong millennial exhibition--opened at the Tower of David Museum of the History of Jerusalem in the Old City of Jerusalem. Chihuly and an international installation team adorned the aged stone of the former Citadel with seventeen luminous sculptures. Chihuly's love of extremes can be seen in his Jerusalem Wall of Ice, made from sixty-four tons of Alaskan ice. The water from the melting ice was used to irrigate the surrounding land. With 117 full-color images, Chihuly Jerusalem 2000 documents the installation of Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem 2000, and the team that created it. Introduced by affectionate letters to Chihuly's young son about the project, this exceptional volume invites readers to feel the magic of artistic invention and international cooperation.
