沃尔特•洛德（1917-2002）

美国作家，历史研究者，先后毕业于普林斯顿大学历史系和耶鲁大学法学院。

就读耶鲁期间，适逢美国正式参加二战，洛德一度中止学业，入伍赴欧作战。战争结束，洛德回归校园，并最终拿到法律学位。

1955年，代表作《此夜永难忘》问世，轰动一时。此后，洛德佳作频出，三十年间共创作出版了十一部畅销书，成为“叙述史”（Narrative history）领域的一代名家。

1997年，詹姆斯•卡梅隆拍摄电影《泰坦尼克号》期间，八十高龄的洛德应邀出山，担任顾问。

与帕金森病抗争多年之后，洛德于2002年过世。次年，讲述重返“泰坦尼克号”海底遗骸的纪录片《深渊幽灵》（Ghosts of the Abyss）上映，詹姆斯•卡梅隆将此片献给洛德，以示追忆。
