如果說為什麼新加坡會讓大陸一次次的失望，從這本李光耀的迴憶錄可稍微見些端倪，首先呢，新加坡人就是新加坡人，雖然大多數人口的第二性是華人，但他們的國籍仍是新加坡人，這些人從19世紀中期開始，生活的不容易，為瞭生存而考慮，觀點當然不同，所以不是新加坡人讓我們失望瞭，而是我們期望太高瞭
