评分故事背景是美國南北戰爭，A&J來到瞭戰地醫院幫助傷員。護士給瞭他們something to follow。 讀著這本書還挺感人的，尤其是Jack在給African-American傷員倒水時候安慰他的話。 他們後來救助瞭對方的戰士以及一個長得和Jack很像的叫John的drummer boy~感受到戰場上的殘酷和傷感後，兄妹倆很想念自己溫暖的傢。迴到傢後他們問爸爸傢族裏有沒有曾經參加過Civil War的人，爸爸說曾曾曾曾祖父曾經是drummer boy 叫John！！！
