卢斯，牛津大学政治、哲学和经济学学士，并在伦敦城市大学新闻专业进修。曾任克林顿政府财政部长拉里·萨默斯的演讲撰稿人。1 995年以来一直就职于《金融时报》，2001～2005年驻印度新德里，任南亚局主任，目前为《金融时报》驻华盛顿的评论员。
