With the works collected here, Chekhov moved away from the realism of his earlier tales - developing a broader range of characters and subject matter, while forging the spare minimalist style that would inspire such modern short-story writers as Hemingway and Faulkner.

The reader裡面讀給hanna的書. 並沒有覺得和michael&hanna那一段有resemblance. "And by some strange coincidence, perhaps an incidental obe, everything that he found important interesting necessary in which he was sincere n didnt deceive himself, which constituted the core of his life, occurred in secret from others"
评分I've only read The Lady with the Little Dog. When I read this one, I felt kind of like reading Zhang Ailing's novels as I did before.
