读了if this is a man的大部分。比起通常的奥斯维辛文学，除了展现个性的泯灭和暧昧的规则等常规逻辑，最大的新意是提供了一份类目清晰的《奥斯维辛生存指南》和详细的案例分析。其核心在于对人性的追问。奥斯维辛不仅从肉体上摧毁了无数人，它的运作机制所产出的幸存者，也不断挑战着人类对于文明的信心。一个人是否能在保持基本道德感的情况下，走出奥斯维辛？1987年，莱维从住所三楼的阳台一跃而下。

每天在午饭时间读一点，花了将近七个月才读完。前段描写奥斯维辛的黑暗，然而最打动人的是那种不顾一切竭尽所能要活下去的决心。后端描写回家的路程，从白俄罗斯坐火车回意大利，读来几乎有魔幻感。最后的结语实在发人深省。Levi的语言感性理性交织，魅力十足。

If this is a man有意思的是，有时候你觉得那一刻一刻停留在哲学或人类学视角的冗长思辨当中，以至于你甚至分不清Levi究竟身处其间还是一个旁观的人类学家。而有时候又觉得它是很快在流动的、推进的，而Levi参与其中的情感又能在这种推进之中被不明显地感知。
