In addition to the significant influence his novels and stories had on film, Hammett "is now widely regarded as one of the finest mystery writers of all time" and was called, in his obituary in the New York Times, "the dean of the... 最后才把事情看清,美丽的外表下藏着无数的心机.那个年代的小说人物线发展得如此清晰.When a man's partner is killed he's supposed to do something about it. It doesn't make any difference what you thought of him. He was your partner and you're supposed to do something about it. I won't play sap for you.

audiobook. It's not really to my taste. It's a waste of money to buy detective novels. I should listen to them.

Hammett的对话和浑然天成的比喻真是太棒了，有些写法乍看之下觉得突兀，仔细想想真是绝妙，尤其是把视线和情绪当主语的叙述方式。
