企鵝齣版的abridged 幾百頁讀讀真是輕鬆..原作雖然很長但是比起Gibbon還是很容易讀的今年鼕天瞭打算重新讀一次 for further edification. Lord Macaulay的敘述非常taut對人對事的分析略顯刻薄 but the dear old winnie gave us Marlborough!
