Before becoming the patron of Lost Generation artists, Gertrude Stein established her reputation as an innovative author whose style was closer to painting than literature. 评分A poetic mimesis not of the ordinary objects but of the perceptual process. Very playful. A series of interior monologues. Words don't arouse our sensations anymore. Words themselves become our sensations or vise versa. The content isn't necessarily important anymore; the meaning is the making process itself.
评分There was a time when I could recite most of the first page because there was no way of telling what kind of book I was reading other than quoting its own words.
