以亚洲经济腾飞奇观为题材的小说容易落入迎合猎奇和愤世嫉俗的两个窠臼，太阳底下无新鲜事，虽然这本小说里的故事并不新奇，但出色的小说家能把司空见惯的事件变成难忘的艺术品，Mohsin Hamid是这样的小说家之一，标题看似戏谑调侃，但实际的叙事沉静稳重，尤其是结尾，悲剧中仍给人可信的慰藉，体现作者的功力。

很奇怪，作者的第二人称写作让我没啥代入感...可能是对getting filthy rich不感兴趣？还是对亚洲国家经济体制操作规则比较了解？另外，这是一本self-help的书，很奇怪，也没帮到我傻。听完就像听了一个巴基斯坦版本的”霍乱时期的爱情”。相比之下，作者的the reluctant fundamentalist 剧情更好
