Stephen William Hawking, CH, CBE, FRS, FRSA (born 8 January 1942) is a British theoretical physicist. Hawking is the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge (but intends to retire from this post in 2009), a Fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and the distinguished research chair at Waterloo's Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. He is known for his contributions to the fields of cosmology and quantum gravity, especially in the context of black holes.

初识《时间简史》要回溯到五、六年前，那时的我和同班女生还沉迷在爱因斯坦的大脑构成中不可自拔，突然听说有了本描述宇宙的书，而且作者还是大名鼎鼎的Stephen Hawking（史蒂芬•霍金），立马赶去校外的书店扫荡。可惜书店老板竟以“内容太晦涩”为由只进了一本，权衡再三...
評分如果嫌《时间简史》看的费劲，推荐这个版本 1、简单 2、插图 3、全彩印 4、章节基本独立，相对短的篇幅讲完一个问题 当然，如果觉得这个简单，可以看原版，或者，还出过一个时间简史的插图版。

It is a great scientific textbook which is easier to understand than I though. Hawking tells many advanced knowledge about the universe in a way of telling stories.

评分這本書讀起來好熟悉啊——小學時泡新華書店看過的天文冊子，中學和大學重學過的經典力學、電磁場、相對論、量子力學……能在不Google的情況下一周末慢慢讀完覺得已經對得起老師瞭？（講真，這種科普讀物淨說大白話，對我來說還不如直接砸公式來得爽快呢，一段話也就一行公式的事。）隨著實驗物理的取得新進展，比如成功探測到引力波、拍到黑洞，這本書其實可以update一下，可惜斯人已逝，隻能由後學來傳承薪火。
