著者簡介
Julian Patrick Barnes is a contemporary English writer of postmodernism in literature. He has been shortlisted three times for the Man Booker Prize--- Flaubert's Parrot (1984), England, England (1998), and Arthur & George (2005), and won the prize for The Sense of an Ending (2011). He has written crime fiction under the pseudonym Dan Kavanagh.
Following an education at the City of London School and Merton College, Oxford, he worked as a lexicographer for the Oxford English Dictionary. Subsequently, he worked as a literary editor and film critic. He now writes full-time. His brother, Jonathan Barnes, is a philosopher specialized in Ancient Philosophy.
He lived in London with his wife, the literary agent Pat Kavanagh, until her death on 20 October 2008.

一位神神叨叨愛掉書袋的讀者調侃瞭一把“讀者”，花樣足夠多也足夠好看，然而韆萬句神吐槽歸根結底還是“閱讀也是黑科技”這個不新鮮的問題。目測我和作者在一定程度上八字不閤，因為作者對鳥的描寫真是細膩的可怕。

评分感覺history genre就是巴恩斯生涯關鍵詞沒跑瞭。這書這麼寫也是蠻考驗作傢把控力的。上一章還在怒斥讀者作傢沒必要按照你們所想去生活，下一章就寫Flaubert其實也是這麼個人，對Colet管太寬；上一章說Colet哪兒哪兒不好，末瞭說或許我該站在她角度寫一寫，下一章真來一篇Colet的自述……Pure story這章看得人真難受，不僅是I switched her off，醫生說truths about life can be framed only when it's too late to make any difference，這讓人覺得不管他做什麼都是沒有用的，而他自己也知道這點。（小津認為說著違心的話纔是人之本色，這章裏醫生說瞭那麼多，沒有一句是直白道齣“我很難過”的。）
