Paul Theroux七十年代的拉丁美洲之行的遊記，曆時三個月，從波士頓-墨西哥-危地馬拉-尼加拉瓜-哥斯達黎加-巴拿馬-哥倫比亞-秘魯-玻利維亞-智利-阿根廷作為終點，走完瞭老巴塔哥尼亞火車綫。早期作品稍顯青澀，中期的諷刺挖苦和後期的幽默寬容還沒完全顯現齣來，但仍然不錯。國內綠皮封麵那版翻譯的極差。
