I don't think the end is hurried. After all, It is the hopeless and anxiety life which Bowling returned to. The book itself is an eulogy to the bucolic age named "before the war" --- or, antebellum ---, however, shattered by Capitalism, Consumerism and Fascism. Can't help bursting into tears while the sentimental nostalgia was presented.

结构不算很精致，有点信马由缰，不过对儿时生活的描写非常动人，很有共鸣。讽刺的笔触常让人忍俊不禁，不过有时有点刻薄了，尤其是对已婚女性……1939之前就预见到伦敦轰炸，尽显预言帝本质。其中对希特勒斯大林战争宣传警棍彩色体恤衫的讨论略见1984和动物农庄的雏形。
