In April 1956, Lewis, a confirmed bachelor, married Joy Davidman, an American poet with two small children. After four brief and intensely happy years, Lewis found himself alone and inconsolable. This is the unflinching account of how a stalwart believer lost his sense of bearings in the "mad midnight moment" of grief in the loss of a spouse.
Clive Staples Lewis (29 November 1898 – 22 November 1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a fellow and tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954 when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year.
His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Mere Christianity, Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics, the Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and been transformed into three major motion pictures.

評分 評分All reality is iconoclastic. All nonsense questions are unanswerable. The terrible oxymoron,a 'spiritual animal' .The best is perhaps what we understand least.
评分This is a sincere, touching and cruel book. Words cannot express. Grief is like those beasts in Harry Porter that can only be seen by those who have witnessed death themselves. Once you've been there, you'll understand, or it'll be no more than a careless sigh that lacks the weight of truth.
