捨溫·努蘭（Sherwin B.Nuland）
作者在耶魯大學教授外科和醫學史，也是《康涅狄格醫學》期刊（Connecticut Medicine)的文學編輯和《醫學史及相關科學》期刊（Journal of the History of Mecicine and Alied Sciences）的總編。他所著的《麻醉的起源》（The Origins of Anesthesia）被列為醫學圖書館的必備經典。
