這本書看到一半，欠費被迫還掉。。。下次一定會再藉的！！！第二本我為之入迷的書

第四次讀。Henry James的書如同一座精緻古堡，每次探尋都會發現之前沒注意過的細節。這次重讀，小說無數次重復的兩個詞determine，success，都是諷刺也是實話，we're heroines of our own fictions and then we discover we are no more than convenient characters. Still we can determine to lead a "successful" heroine life by trying to face real life instead of escaping into another fantasy.

She was so strong to make her own decision, yet she was so weak to admit that she made a mistake. I suppose that was when the tragedy started.

已经把书还了，但是所有情节都在我脑海里恣意伸展。第一次发现，用心去读一本心理描写丰富的外国小说是如此惬意如此涤荡心灵的历程。亨利詹姆斯爱用大段的景物烘托，爱花大量笔墨去勾勒人物内心活动，爱置身事外评论他笔下的人物……这些都是从前见了外国作品就绕道而行...
