如果文学史课上早点知道西德尼结尾会有那么欢乐的诅咒，早就把这本书看完了。西德尼诅咒不爱诗的人，“然而我必须替所有诗人如此诅咒你：当你活于世追寻爱情的时候，因为无力谱一首商籁，你将得不到爱的眷恋；等你死去的时候，因为无人为你撰一篇墓志铭，关于你的回忆也将从世间消亡。”

评分配着Norton选文的注释看的。用juridical oration的结构构成全篇，digressio的部分又嵌套了一个oration的结构，整体其实还算清晰；不过典故和引用（当然很多观点也是来自他人）着实有点多，让文章看着有点琐碎。除了几个可能的误用外（比如Plato在Ion里的反语，Eunuch和Self-Tormentor的混淆等），放在The School of Abuse的大背景下看是少有的可贵之作，结尾的playful curse是亮点。
