三星半。小说题目改成<Hetty>可能更为妥当。人物性格刻画实在有点苍白和单一。很模糊，第一本小说，也是正常。基督徒的思想和传教意义是小说的重点，而不是情节，就目前来看的话。

George Elliot的第一部长篇小说。总觉得以男性笔名来写作的Elliot仍然在不自觉中蒙上男权的话语。不过love triumphs的经典主题依旧让人充满生的希望。
