前一半有點拖遝，主要是為Willie和John鋪墊。兩條時間綫，幾個地點交叉敘事。後一半開始變精彩，迴到蘇格蘭的一些列事件也很動人。眾人以為Jamie遇上海難去世之後著墨有點少，沒有感覺到Claire和John的悲痛。John閉著眼睛說：“I have had carnal knowledge of your wife.”以為Jamie會殺瞭他，把我逗笑瞭。
