In this work the author, a geographer born and raised in Hong Kong, focuses on several social aspects of Chinese migration in Germany. Among the topics discussed are "Is Home Always Home?": "On Being Chinese": "'Being My Own Boss": A Way of Homemaking": "Charting New Business Territories: Get IT Going": "Marketing Places, Selling the Homing Desire." The study includes a complete bibliography. Maggi Wai-Han Leung received her B.A. (1994) from Dartmouth College. Hanover, New Hampshire, and M.A. (1996) from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, Minnesota, in the United States. Upon completion of her M.A. Degree, she returned to Hong Kong to work at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and with Greenpeace China. With support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Leung spent three years in Germany, conducting her dissertation research on the ethnic Chinese migrant communities. She received her Dr. rer pol degree from the University of Bremen in 2002. At present she teaches at the Department of Geography and Resource Management of the Chinese University of Hong Kong
