著者簡介

喬治·伽莫夫（George Gamov）1904年生於俄國的敖德薩市。1928年在原蘇聯列寜格勒大學獲物理學博士學位。1928～1931年先後在丹麥哥本哈根大學和英國劍橋大學師從著名物理學傢玻爾和盧瑟福從事研究工作。1931年迴到列寜格勒大學任教授。1933年在巴黎居裏研究所從事研究。1934年夏移居美國，任密執安大學講師，同年鞦被聘為華盛頓大學教授，1954年任加利福尼亞大學伯剋利分校教授，1956年改任科羅拉多大學教授，1968年卒於科羅拉多州的博爾德。

伽莫夫是一位興趣廣泛的天纔。他早年在核物理研究中取得齣色成績。其後又在天體物理學上與勒梅特一起最早提齣“大爆炸”理論。在生物學上首先提齣“遺傳密碼”理論。他還是一位傑齣的科普作傢，在他一生正式齣版的25部著作中（不包括眾多的論文），就有18部是科普作品。他的許多科普作品風靡全球，《物理世界奇遇記》更是他最著名的代錶作。由於他在普及科學知識方麵所作齣的傑
