In "When Fish Got Feet, Sharks Got Teeth, and Bugs Began to Swarm", author-illustrator Hannah Bonner takes readers on a lighthearted yet fact-filled journey back to Earth as it was 430 million years ago, when all the continents were close together and there was only one giant ocean. Earth's waters were already full of animal life back then, but life on land was limited to tiny bugs and equally tiny plants. Over the next 80 million years or so, fish developed jaws - and teeth! - and became major players in the oceans, while a green revolution took place on land that changed the planet forever. Vegetation went from ankle-high plants to full-fledged forests inhabited by all sorts of bigger and better bugs. Eventually the first four-legged animals, or tetrapods, made their appearance - that's 'when fish got feet.'
