This is the second edition of the AALL Universal Citation Guide (UCG). It is intended to provide guidance and suggestions for courts, practitioners and others on recommended methods of formatting and using universal citations to legal material in legal and law related documents. The book itself consists of chapters on the recommended citation of judicial opinions, constitutions, statutes, court rules, administrative regulations and decisions, and law reviews. There are also appendices of recommended abbreviations. It is also significant that the UCG is specifically intended to complement, but not replace existing legal citation manuals (i.e. The Bluebook or the ALWD Manual). In all instances where an element of a citation is not necessarily determined by the needs of a universal citation, reference is made to these manuals.
