This book allows the reader to travel with Claudio Parmiggiani along the lanes of memory, comparing his art to photographs taken by Paul Strand in 1953 of his native village Luzzara. In "Caption", the introduction to this fascinating publication, Parmigigiani recounts his memories, in an evocative poetic prose: 'guided solely by my awareness of a genuine connection between the images of my work and those in the book, I began to compare them, unmindful of order or chronology, just going with the flow. I held each picture against the light, as though seeking a hidden watermark, until at last the inner light of each was found mirrored in the other.'
